SS 420 Bright Square Bar

SS 420 bright square bar is made of Stainless steel 420 grade, also known as UNS S41000 and UNS S42000, is considered a basic martensitic stainless steel. The bright square bar SS 420 consists of chromium and iron (11,5% to 13,5%) and other elements including carbon, manganese, phosphorus, silicone and sulfur.

SS 420 bright square bar is the high carbon content version of Stainless Steel 410. SS 420 bright square bar provides increased strength and hardness. Unlike Stainless Steel 410, a grade for "general purposes" is also required to include at least 12% chromium, which is necessary for an adequate resistance to corrosion. SS 420 bright square bar achieves its best corrosion resistance when the alloy is hardened and polished, or surface ground.
